> Junior Girls Unit Members are...
Daughters, foster daughters, stepdaughters, granddaughters, sisters, half sisters, foster sisters, and stepsisters of members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, or men and women eligible for the VFW. They must be between the ages of 5 through 16.

 

The Fridley Junior Girls Unit includes girls from the entire VFW 7th District.  There are approximately 25 members of the unit, ranging in age from 5 to 16.

 

The Junior Girls Unit participates in many of the Post and Auxiliary programs, along with doing projects of their own.  Some recent Unit activities include:

 

*      Creating Buddy Poppy displays for competition and display

*      Assisting in the assembly and sale of Buddy Poppy cards

*      Flag presentations to area senior apartment buildings

*      Visits to local nursing homes and the Minneapolis Veterans Home

*      Participation in community parades

*      Participation in the Loyalty Day Princess and Poppy Queen contests

*      Bake sales

*      Car washes

*      Assist with annual Post picnic

*      Purchase Christmas gifts for residents at the Minneapolis Veterans Home

*      Summer pool party

*      Annual Christmas party

 

The Fridley Junior Girls Unit meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at the Post Home.  The members run a regular business meeting, holding elections, reporting on activities and voting on donations.  In addition to the business meetings, girls work on special projects and participate in many activities.
